Romans 15.22 - 16.27
22 For the cause of fulfilling Isaiah 52.15 by my preaching my gospel down here in (today's) Turkey, Cyprus and Greece, I have been much hindered from coming to you people in Rome. 23But now I have no more place in these parts wherein to preach my gospel where it hasn't been preached before. Besides, I have had a great desire these many years to come to you people in Rome so I can preach my God-spiel to you Roman citizens, too. 24Therefore, whenever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you. I trust some of you Romans will come to fetch me during my journey to Spain, too, so you can bring me on my way there to Rome, for I would first like to be somewhat filled with your company.
Hmm. I wonder if that was an oral or anal-minded request, or both.
25 For now, however, I am headed for Jerusalem to minister money and stuff to the saints who live there. 26I have lots of money and material possessions to give to the Jewish saints in Jerusalem, too, because it has pleased the Christians of Macedonia and Achaia (in today's Greece) to make certain contributions to the poor saints who dwell in Jerusalem. The people of Macedonia and Achai (the Corinthians, Thessalonians, Philippians, and perhaps the Christians of Berea and Athens) made those contributions at my request.
27 It has pleased the Corinthians, Thessalonians, and Philippians verily to give so much money and stuff to the saints at Jerusalem, too, so it ought to please you verily when I command you to send the saints your money and stuff, too! Heh-heh. After all, the Corinthians, Thessalonians, and Philippians are indebted to the Jewish saints of Jerusalem, because the Gentiles have now been made partakers of the Jews' spiritual things. Therefore, Gentiles are duty bound to minister carnal things to the Jewish saints. And since you Romans are Gentiles, your duty is to provide carnal things to the Jewish saints in Jerusalem, too. Heh-heh.
The word carnal, the antonym of that which is spiritual and/or intellectual, is an adjective that refers to the flesh; i.e., bodily, corporeal, temporal, worldly; having or showing a physical rather than an intellectual or spiritual orientation or origin; marked by sexuality; relating or given to crude bodily pleasures and appetites. Paul's use of the word "carnal" is just one more time when Paul both exposed his own mental obsession on sex, and attempted to seduce his Christians into obsessing on human sexuality, too. And you're still wondering why so many Christian priests and preachers who keep spewing Paul's dogmanure also happen to be sexual whores and pedophiles, eh, Christian?
Further, Paul's claim that Gentiles owe carnal things to the Spirit-led Jews in Jerusalem as a trade-off for the gaining of Spirituality is insane. Had Paul's Gentile Christians gained salvation, they would have known how absurd his claims were, too, because God commands His children:
"Freely you have received. Freely give." Matthew 10.8
And God says what He means, and means what He says. The anonymous 12-Step programs adhere to this Doctrine beautifully. They just carry it too far when the traditions command us to not accept outside contributions. That money could have been put to such good use providing chemical dependency and codependency treatment in prisons.
The program also carries anonymity too far. I remind you anonymous people again, "What would the Master say?" This.
"You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost his savor, (grit, courage, trust in God, ability to season and preserve the Word of God by explaining when, where, why, and how to apply it, etc.) wherewith shall it (God's Doctrine) be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men."
And that is exactly what happens when you fail to speak up against the blasphemies promoted by the world's religions.
"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it gives light to all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." Matthew 5.13-16
And to you hard-asses who scoff and snort at His commandments trying to keep your anonymity while simultaneously trying to keep people in dire need of recovery out of A.A. and Al-Anon, He says:
"Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honor me with lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men,' for laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men... Full well you reject the commandment of God that you may keep your own tradition... making the Word of God of no effect through your tradition which YOU, not God, have delivered." Mark 7.6-13
How are you doing, hard-ass? Did God prick your conscience when you read that? Are you in derision, or will you humble yourself to comply with God's commandments? Back to the super-creep Paul.
28 Therefore, when I have taken all the money and stuff I have collected from the Corinthians, Thessalonians, Phillipians, and Galatians to Jerusalem and delivered the goodies to the saints there, and have sealed to the saints this fruit made of money and stuff, I will come by you into Spain. 29And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
30 Now I beseech you, Roman brothers--for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake and for the love of the Spirit--that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me. 31I need for you to strive together with me in your prayers for me so that:
- I may be delivered from the Jews of Judea who do not believe me and my gospel, and
- my service of providing money and stuff which I have in my possession for the saints of Jerusalem may be accepted by the saints because some of them might not want it.
Oh-oh. Paul's thievery surfaces again. This letter was written to the Romans from Corinth, Greece prior to Paul's last visit to Jerusalem wherein he was tried for blasphemy. In turn, Paul made the same demandments for money and stuff from the Corinthians. In I Corinthians 16, Paul unwittingly told on himself by admitting that he had also commanded his Christians in Galatia to hand over their money and stuff, too. Watch.
I Corinthians 16.1 Now concerning the collection of your money and stuff for the saints in Jerusalem, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, you shall do the same. 2Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store his money and stuff as God has prospered him so that there are no gatherings when I come. 3And when I come, whomsoever you shall approve by your letters will I send to bring your liberality to Jerusalem. 4And if it be appropriate that I go to Jerusalem also with your delivery men, they shall go with me to Jerusalem.
As is revealed clearly in the book of Acts of the Apostles, the only time that Paul had delivered any relief for the Lord's disciples in Jerusalem was when he was with Barnabas as is told in Acts 11.27-30 prior to Paul's first missionary journey, and long before Paul had formed his churches in Galatia (now Turkey), Achia and Macedonia (now Greece). After that first delivery of goods, neither Paul nor his churches provided any more financial or material support for the Jews in Jerusalem. None.
Note, too, that while in Corinth, Greece writing this letter to the Romans, Paul was about as far away from the Lord's disciples in Jerusalem as he had ever been. Paul felt assured that due to the great distance between himself and Jerusalem, the disciples would never hear about his strong-armed robbery of his churches.
In this letter to the Romans, Paul is most likely also unwittingly informing us of what he intended to do with all the money and stuff he had collected from his Christian churches; i.e., he planned on high-tailing it off to Spain to stash the loot there. He was also setting up the Romans hoping to rob them on his way to Spain, too. What a scam!
Back to Paul's letter to the Romans.
32 I also beg you Roman brothers to pray that I may come to you with joy by means of the will of God, too, and that I may be refreshed by means of being in your company.
33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Romans 16.1 Oops! I have more to say. Ahem. P.P.S. I recommend our sister Phebe to you Romans, for she is going to be the mailman who delivers this letter to you. She is a servant of the church at Cenchrea. 2Thou shalt receive her in the Lord, because it becomes you Roman saints to receive her in the Lord. Thou shalt also assist her in whatsoever business she has need of you. The business she has need of you is your money and stuff. Heh-heh, for she has been a succorer of many people, including myself.
Succor comes from the Latin sub- "up" currere "to run," which means "to run up." A succorer is something or someone that provides relief, aid, help. By Paul claiming that Phebe was a person who ran to the aid of, and provided relief for, many people, we know that the "business" Paul sent her out to take care of was that of seeking financial and material support from the Romans while simultaneously delivering his letter to them.
Now here comes more of Paul's self-promoting name-dropping and people-pleasing flattery designed to sucker the pleased Romans into giving him what he wants: money, property, prestige, and the power to manipulate and control them.
3Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my helpers in Christ Jesus 4who have laid down their own necks for my life. Not only do I give thanks to them, but all the churches of the Gentiles give thanks to them, too. 5Likewise, greet the church that is in their house.
Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.
6Greet Mary, because she bestowed much labor on us.
7Salute my kinsmen and fellowprisoners Andronicus and Junia. Not only are they of note (of high status) among the apostles, but they were also in Christ before I was.
8Greet Amplias, because Amplias is my beloved in the Lord.
9Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.
10Salute Apelles, because Apelles has the Christians' approval as being somebody who is in Christ.
Salute the people who are of Aristobulus' household.
11Salute my kinsman Herodion. Yep, I am of Herod's house and, therefore, of royal lineage, too. Heh-heh.
Greet the people who are of the household of Narcissus, because the members of the household of Narcissism are in the Lord.
12Salute Tryphena and Tryphosa who labor in the Lord.
Salute the beloved Persis who labored much in the Lord.
13Salute the Rufus who is chosen in the Lord. His mother is my mother.
14Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brothers who are with them.
15Salute Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them.
16Salute one another with a holy kiss.
After all, the churches of Christ salute you. We say, "Hail, Romans!"
17 Now I beg you Roman brothers to mark any and all people who cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which you have learned of me. Their names are Peter, James, John, Matthew, Mark, etc., a.k.a. the Lord's disciples. Heh-heh. And after you have scratched a scarlet tattoo on their foreheads, thou shalt avoid them! 18After all, they do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ! Instead, they serve their own belly! The way they serve their own belly is by speaking good words and giving fair speeches wherein they intentionally deceive the hearts of simple-minded people!
19 You Romans' obedience to me is come abroad unto all men. Therefore, I am glad for you on your behalf. Even so, I would yet have you become wise to that which is good, but simple-minded and ignorant of that which constitutes evil.
Satan Paul would indeed have his Christyins ignorant of that which constitutes sin, because our learning to identify evil, bad, wrong, wicked, etc. is an automatic core requirement for gaining salvation. Paul was attempting to keep you Christians' heads buried in the sand pretending to be virtuous, innocent-of-evil people so you wouldn't see the extreme wickedness in yourselves and your fearless god Paul.
20 Pretty soon the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
21Oops, I have more to say again. PSSSSSSSt. Timotheus my workfellow, Lucius, Jason, Sosipater, and my kinsmen salute you. Hiel Romans!
22I Tertius, wrote this epistle. I salute you in the Lord.
23My host Gaius--who also happens to be the host of the whole church--salutes you, too.
Erastus the chamberlain of the city salutes you.
A brother named Quartus salutes you.
24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
25 Oops! I forgot to add one more thing. Ahem. PSSSSSSSSSSSt. Now to Him that:
- is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and
- the preaching of Jesus Christ
- according to the revelation of the mystery
- which was kept secret since the world began, but
- 26whose mystery is now made manifest
- by the scriptures of the prophets
- according to the commandment of the everlasting God
- which was made known to all nations
- to repay all nations for their obedience to the Christian faith,
27to Him, God, the only wise one be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
Written to the Romans from Corinthus and sent by Phebe, servant of the church at Cenchrea, better spelled Sinchrea.
